A cast bronze Lamentation group, circle of Georg Raphael Donner

Cast, chased and patinated bronze. This high relief depicts the Lamentation of Christ beneath the cross. The Virgin Mary is shown holding the body of Her son surrounded by angels. The relief's design is characterised by the variation in the depiction of various surface textures and the contrast between the smooth surfaces of the figures, clouds and cross and the rough background.
Minimal wear. Set into a modern wooden frame. Height 30.5 cm. Width 17.5 cm.
