An 18k gold diamond and sapphire spiral bangle

Spiral shaped open bangle set at the terminals with brilliant-cut diamonds (ca. 0.84 ct, H/I, vvs) and a round natural sapphire (ca. 0.70 ct, diameter ca. 6.59 mm) in "two point settings". Hallmarks: Fineness 750, maker's mark "B" in a circle. Inner diameter 7.2 cm. Weight 66.66 g.
Friedrich Becker, Duesseldorf, 1964.

Becker first used this "two-point setting" in 1964. The stones are held at the girdle in a spectacle surround and thus appear almost to float on the upright, narrow moulding of the hoop. The triangular shaped holes sawed into the substrate protect the lower part of the stones and also allow for additional light from the side.
