A Bergen silver mounted yongzheng porcelein tankard

Chine-de-commande tankard decorated in famille rose polychromy with cartouches on gilt tendril ground and a rocky landscape in puce camaieu on the opposite side. The domed lid engraved with the monogram “RG“ beneath a baron's crown and with a pierced thumbrest formed as the crowned monogram of King Frederick IV. The inside of the lid set with a medal by Anton Meybusch depicting Queen Louise of Denmark and Norway (1667-1721). H 20.5 cm.

This tankard is thought to have been a gift from the royal family to Rudolf von Gersdorff (1660 – 1729), who was raised to the rank of Baron by Christian V in 1699 and became conference councillor and head court master to Queen Louise in 1717.
