An ivory netsuke of a reclining Okame with a very young boy. Late 18th century

Resting with legs crossed and head propped up on the left hand, in the manner of a sarumawashi, the loosely worn robe and the fan in her right hand indicating summer heat, the young boy at her side wearing only a bib inserts his hand between Okame's legs, a caress which she apparently enjoys. The feet are original, but restuck.
