A Berlin KPM porcelain vase with views of Sanssouci and Charlottenburg

Porzellan, rosa Fond, farbiger Aufglasurdekor, Vergoldung. Model no. 1617. Decorated with views in rectangular gold surrounds with matte etched scrollwork. Blue sceptre mark with KPM, red imperial orb mark, impressed mark "F4". H 47,8 cm.
Around 1840 - 44, motifs based on paintings by Carl Daniel Freydanck.

These views may have been based on paintings by Carl Daniel Freydanck. A small view of the gardens of Charlottenburg palace (27.2 x 35.2 cm) painted by him is housed in the KPM archives. The painting has been copied in great detail on porcelain, down to the clouds in the sky. The KPM archives also house a view of the upper terrace of Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam, painted in 1843/44 , but with a more detailed foreground.
