Otto Günther-Naumburg studied painting at the Berlin Art Academy and later joined the Berlin Artists' Association. He specialized in landscapes and cityscapes and received major public commissions for them, such as for the Berlin House of Representatives. His works somewhat reflect the tendencies of Impressionism with its interest in light effects. The present painting, with the light shimmering through branches and leaves, the moving cloud formation and the free, loose brushstrokes is a characteristic work of this Berlin painter.
