An Islamic mortar

Engraved cast bronze with slightly mottled patina of verdigris and remnants of red pigment. Of tapering form, the protruding upper rim with a calligraphic inscription. Decorated with two rows of lotus bud reliefs alternating with engravings. H 14.4, D 15.6 cm, weight c. 5.5 kg.
Attributed to Khorasan/Iran, 13th C.
