An Augsburg silver tankard

Cylindrical parcel-gilt tankard on a rounded acanthus clasped base. Decorated with a frieze of child-like nereids playing with a lion in shallow water. The domed lid with corresponding decor and a large spherical finial. H 17.2 cm, weight 768 g.
Marks of Israel Thelott, 1673 - 1677.

Literature

The outer decor was probably created by Johann Andreas Thelott during his time as an apprectice in the workshop of his father Israel.
