A pair of Parisian silver trompe l'oeil chestnut pots

Round scalloped dishes, the rims decorated with shellwork and flowerheads in relief, in the centres square chestnut boxes with hinged lids. The outer walls designed to resemble two damask serviettes with floral decor. The inside of the lid emblazoned with the Rothschild family coat-of-arms and the motto "CONCORDIA INTEGRITAS INDUSTRIA". H ca. 4,5; D 27.5 cm, weight 1,838 and 1,884 g.
Marks of Charles-Nicolas Odiot, 1819 - 1838.
