A pair of Riga silver candlesticks

The slender baluster-form shafts issuing from square moulded bases with repoussé shellwork decor and twist fluting. One monogrammed "M.E.v.K." to the underside. Includes two twin-flame foliate candelabra attachments. H 24.8 cm, weight 702 g. H with attachments 38 cm, weight 1,1914 g.
Marks of Johann Friedrich Lamoureux or Johan Abrahamson Lamoureux Witwe, circa 1760/70.

This maker's mark could be either that of Johann Friedrich Lamoureux or of his mother Maria Dieck, who ran the workshop of her deceased husband Johann Abrahamson Lamoureux together with an apprentice from 1744 to 1760 (see Leistikow p. 323).
