A Meissen porcelain tea caddy with Chinoiserie and merchant navy motifs

Angular vessel with slightly irregular body and matching, but associated, lid (amended later). Decorated on all facets with finely painted Chinoiserie scenes in gilt strapwork surrounds, the shoulders with merchant navy scenes. Unglazed base with faint blue crossed swords mark, former's mark of Andreas Schiefer, 77 in gold. Minor wear to the gilding. H with lid 12.5, H without lid 10.6 cm.
Around 1735 - 40, decor attributed to the workshop of Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt.
