A carved wood figure of Saint Dorothy, presumably Lower Rhine Region, around 1470/1480

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened. With older polychromy. A depiction of a female saint standing in a gently swaying pose, designed for a frontal viewpoint. The figure wears a crown of flowers and is traditionally assumed to depict Saint Dorothy, although further identifying attributes have been lost. The fine quality of the carving is especially evident in the facial features, hair, and drapery of the garments
The left forearm and the separately attached right hand lost. Wear with losses to the polychromy. Height 42 cm.
