Black chalk, grey pencil, pen in brown, grey watercolour, hightened in gold. 20.2 x 33 cm.
Stamped on the reverse: J. H. W.Tischbein and Th III, 8 in black ink..

This work shows a stork and four ducks on a riverbank in the right foreground of a panoramic landscape. The atmospheric use of light is what makes the print so appealing. The sun breaks through the clouds, leaving reflections of light on the embankment on the left and on the water. According to Tischbein's first biographer, it could be an illustration of his Fable of the Stork.
