A Potsdam walnut writing cabinet

Walnut, burr walnut and plum veneer on oak and conifer, ormolu mountings, iron locks. A deux corps. Two-door chest under a sloping desk drawer with a curved front and curved angles. Two-door top under a breakfront gable. All three sides with framed cuboid marquetry. The drop-front writing surface concealing seven shallow drawers under seven letter compartments. Secret compartment in the writing surface. All fittings with eagle motifs. A small loss to the veneer of one leg, restored older insect damage. H 215, W 106, D 53 cm.
