A gueridon with a Roman micromosaic inlaid table top

Ormolu-mounted Louis XVI style table with round black marble top inlaid with a micromosaic depiction of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome surrounded by scenes of the Colosseum, the Temple of Vesta, the Castel Sant'Angelo, monument to Cecilia Metella, Pantheon, Arch of Constantine, Capitoline Hill and the Forum Romanum within a meander frieze. The decor divided by bands of malachite and lapis lazuli. A restored breakage to the top, losses to the malachite. H 74, D 57 cm.
