A Ludwigsburg porcelain coffee pot with bird motifs

The display side painted with a cockatoo, a red parrot, a woodcock and a siskin perching on a branch. The original lid with a sparrow and a bullfinch. The J-shaped handle with an acanthus thumb rest. Blue conjoined double C mark beneath a crown. The handle terminals with firing cracks. H 19 cm.
C. 1765, decor attributed to Gottlieb Friedrich Riedel.

Buffon's "Histoire naturelle des oiseaux", published in Paris between 1770 and 1783, may have served as inspiration for these finely painted bird motifs.
