A large Meissen porcelain platter with a parrot and a Bolognese dog

Rectangular platter with moulded rim. The lip decorated with gilt rimmed brown acanthus tendrils and shell motifs, the well with a depiction of a parrot and a barking Bolognese dog.
Numerous insects conceal minor flaws in the mass. Blue crossed swords mark, pressnummer 54. Minor wear to the gilt edging and the ground. H 4.7, W 38.2, D 27 cm.
Around 1740.

The Dresden Porcelain Collection houses parts of a tea and coffee service with identical decor. It was not known that a dinner service with this decor was produced until the publication of the Ole Olsen Collection catalogue in 1927. The Danish collection included 50 pieces from the service, including this bowl.
