The square vase decorated to each face with a character from the Wu Shuang Pu: the Qin and Han dynasty Confucian scholar Fu Sheng, the Han dynasty general Sun Ce, the politician Di Renjie (Liang Gong) and Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty.



The Wu Shuang Pu (Table of Peerless Heroes) is a book of woodcut prints by Jin Guliang, first published in 1694, containing biographies, poems and imaginary portraits of 40 notable heroes and heroines from the Han dynasty to the Song dynasty. The illustrations were widely adopted and depicted on Chinese porcelain, especially in the 19th century.
