Model no. 838. The original lid with an eagle finial. Decorated with a portrait of Frederick II en grisaille and his crowned monogram in two gilt etched laurel wreath surrounds. Blue sceptre mark. With losses and retouches to the gilding in some of the fluting. H 41.6 cm.
Around 1779 - 85, decor attributed to Franz Tittelbach.

The model is described in Lenz's catalogue as "A large antique vase with raised rods. To this vase are 2 lids, one with a perching eagle, the other with a crown on a cushion for the Duke of Curland, painted with a K. 4th variety (14 inches)." (Lenz, Berliner Porzellan Die Manufaktur Friedrichs des Grossen 1763 - 1786, vol. 1, Berlin 1913, p. 36).
