A late Gothic silver gilt communion chalice

Six-lobed base with pierced lower section, decorated with trefoil motifs engraved with figures of the Virgin and Child, St. Elisabeth and St. John. Three further trefoil motifs with raised depictions of the Corpus Christi flanked by enamelled heraldic motifs of a gold lion on red ground and a double cross. The double shafts of hexagonal section engraved with Gothic ornament, the rotuli decorated with tendrils and letters. The tapering cup set into a basket with a tracery cuff. Losses to the enamel and very few to the pierced tendrils of the base. H 18.8 cm, weight 410 g.
Unmarked save for a Prussian church silverware mark for 1809, attributed to Slovakia, early 16th C.
