A Salzburg silver gilt tankard

Tapering vessel on a round base, decorated throughout with finely chased repoussé scrollwork and fruit garlands, the solid silver scroll handle with a female herm. Hinged lid with corresponding decor and baluster-form finial, the thumbrest formed as a model of a faun holding a cornucopia in each hand. H 17 cm, weight 492 g.
