Cast bronze relief of Judith with the Head of Holofernes by Andrea Riccio

Cast bronze with older patina, the moulded surround worked separately. This high relief depicts Judith standing and placing the severed head of Holofernes into a sack held by her maidservant. According to a catalogue by Weinmüller auction house, the present example of this plaque by Andrea Riccio originates from the collection of Richard von Kaufmann (auction catalogue Berlin 1917, lot 167).
With abrasions and minor dents. 10.7 x 8.2 cm.
