A French 18k gold enamel and baroque blister pearl pin.

Designed as a bust of Harlequin from the commedia dell'arte wearing a frilled ruff, hat and mask picked out in polychrome enamel and mobile pearl earrings. The bust formed from a large bizarrely formed Baroque blister pearl (c. 13.48 x 11.0 x 15.2 mm, presumably natural, not tested). Pin hallmarked: Paris "tête d'aigle" gold guarantee, indistinct maker's mark. Minor wear to the enamel. The back of the pearl with a small breakage and a glued repair to the upper drilled hole. Weight 12.0 g.
