A parcel gilt Roman silver communion garniture in a fitted leather case

Comprising wine and water jugs and a tray. The oval tray with moulded rim decorated with repoussé shells and grape motifs and a central cartouche engraved "S:SILVESTRI IN CAPITE", dated 1770, beneath a tiara with crossed keys. The baluster-form jugs with scroll handles and adorned with draperies, shellwork and acanthus reliefs. Each inscribed "S.S.I.C." and "MDCCLXX" on two cartouche reserves. The hinged lids with floral finials and thumb rests in the shape of the letters V and A. In the original gold embossed dark red leather coffer. H of jugs 17 cm, L of tray 28.5; W 22.7 cm, total weight 941 g.
