A Breslau parcel gilt silver beaker and cover

Tapering beaker on tripod spherical supports. The body decorated with repoussé acanthus scrolls surrounding male portraits in three round reserves. The domed slip lid with corresponding decor and spherical finial. Engraved "F." and with inv. no. 84 on the underside. H 16.5 cm, weight 215 g.
Marks of Gottfried Körner, around 1700.

The three busts depict historical figures from the siege of Vienna by the Turks. Namely Sultan Mehmed IV (1642 - 1693), Kara Mustafa Pasha (1634/35 -1683), Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire and commander-in-chief during the Second Siege of Vienna, and Count Emmerich Thököly of Késmárk (1657 - 1705), Hungarian magnate and statesman and close ally of Kara Mustafa against the Habsburgs.
