A comparable interior scene, showing a slaughtered pig on a support, was auctioned at Sotheby's Amsterdam in 2008 (see photo documentation RKD 214089). Here, too, a child playfully holds a pig's bladder out towards the viewer. A view of Dordrecht, where Hubert van Ravesteyn worked all his life, opens up in the background. In addition to kitchen and stable interiors, Ravesteyn also painted still lifes.
