Alexander Keirincx

Landscape with Peasants and Huntsmen

Oil on panel. 56.5 x 93.5 cm.
Alexander Keirincx 16[?].

Alexander Keirincx was born in Antwerp, but later moved to the northern Netherlands, where, apart from a brief stay in his old homeland and two trips to England, he lived until his death. Keirincx thus became one of the mediators of the Dutch artistic landscapes of Flanders and Holland. Ursula Härting dates the present wooded landscape to the mid-20s and thus to the painter's creative phase in Antwerp before his move to Holland.
