Annot (Anna Otonie Jacobi) was trained as an artist by Lovis Corinth in Berlin and André Lhote in Paris, among others. Together with her husband Rudolf Jacobi (see Lot 157) she opened a painting school in Berlin in 1928: the “Malschule Annot”. That was the same year both became members of the “Berliner Sezession”, and exhibited their works at galleries including Neumann-Nierendorf. After emigrating to the US and Puerto Rico in 1933, the couple returned to Germany in 1967.
