A fine Chine de commande plate. Qianlong period, around 1740

With slightly recessed mirror and flat, sloping rim. The centre decorated in encre de Chine with a view of a French town, framed by a narrow fleur de lys border in red and gold. On the rim four cartouches with scenes in Chinese style between a golden vine background. Old inventory number in red lacquer to the base.

The central motif is based on a copper engraving by Sebastien Le Clerc aus dem Album Planches Extraites Des Diverses Suites de Figures, Chevaux Et Paysages Dessinés Et Graveés Par Le Clerc Pour l'Instruction De M. Le Duc de Bourgogne. Paris: Audran, 1696
