Seated in meditation, both hands in meditation gesture (Amida-jōin) in his lap, the position of the fingers being typical for the "Esoteric Amida". The head is backed by a circular halo with applications of three smaller figures of Amida seated in meditation on a double lotus base. On the back in relief an invocation written in six Siddham characters. Engraved inscription: Ansei gan (kinoe-tora) nen shichigatsu jūninichi osameru kore (receive this) dai kyū sei Tōzenji jūmotsu 安政元甲寅七月十二日納之代九世東善寺什物. The inscription means that the Buddha was given to Tōzenji as a precious object in 1854. The inscription to the left reads Echizen mori Fujiwara mori shishu kore tsukuru. It can be interpreted as: cast by a Fujiwara family member for the Echizen clan.
