An Ise-Yamada boxwood netsuke of a toad next to a rock. 19th century

The toad sits squatting on its forepaws on the flat part of an amorphous rock which seems to imitate the toads shape and contour, the rock surface rendered with long incisions and stippled dots suggestiing moss. Small round black-inlaid eye pupils. Signed Masanao.
