Friedrich von Kleist (1762-1823) was elevated to the rank of hereditary count with the surname "von Nollendorf" by King Friedrich Wilhelm III on 3rd June 1814 in recognition of his services at the Battle of Kulm and Nollendorf. He sent the design for his comital coat of arms to the manufactory director Rosenstiel at KPM in January 1816, whereupon production of his service began. Rosenstiel was able to announce the imminent completion and despatch of the service to the Ministry as early as October 1817.
