A Berlin KPM porcelain platter from the last dinner service for King Friedrich II

Model no. 631. Decorated with a large, finely painted bouquet with a rose, tulip and primulas in the centre. The border with a blue and gold ribbon entwined by laurel. Blue sceptre mark, pressnummer 23, incised III. A restored chip to the edge of the right handle. W 49.7 cm.
1786.

Just under four weeks prior to his death on 17th August 1786, Friedrich II ordered three extensive dinner services, each with 72 settings, from his porcelain manufactory. For the date 20.07.86, Georg Lenz lists the service from which this roast platter originates: "painted with a colourful natural bouquet of flowers, on the rim a dark blue band entwined with gold engraved laurel vine and gilded edge". The service cost 4018 Reichstaler. It was produced at least in part, but was not delivered to the court.

Most recently in a Berlin private collection, acquired in 2013.
