A rare silver centrepiece designed by Paula Straus

Deep oval vessel with faint martelé on eight spherical supports topped by cast silver rosettes. H 7.5; W 44.2; D 29.5 cm, weight 1,222 g.
Heilbronn, Bruckmann & Söhne, designed by Paula Straus, 1930.

Paula Straus (1894-1943) worked in the studio of the silverware factory Bruckmann & Söhne from 1925 - 33 - and designed models for more than 100 coffee and tea services, candlesticks, boxes, vases and cutlery, which were also produced in series. The artist took part in numerous exhibitions with her designs and was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1929 World Exhibition in Barcelona, among other honours.
