A Meissen porcelain tête à tête commemorating a princely alliance

Service for two persons comprising a coffee and teapot with lids and Janus head finials, sugar bowl with lid and Janus head finial, two cups and saucers. All pieces decorated with gilded relief arabesques and reserves crowned with princely crowns surrounding conjoined CA monograms formed from leaves and flowers, with the motto "Vôtre tendreße fait mon bonheur." below. Blue crossed swords mark with star, blue painter's mark. H coffee pot 15.5 cm.
After 1774.

This set may have been a gift from Prince Anton of Saxony to his wife Maria Carolina of Savoy (for whom the C formed from flowers in the monogram would then stand). Their wedding took place in Italy on 29th September 1782 without the groom being physically present, i.e. per procurationem. However, the director of the Meissen porcelain manufactory, Camillo Count Marcolini-Ferretti, attended as a representative of the Saxon court.
