The Furlo Gorge, also known as the Furlo Pass, is a mountain pass on the ancient Roman road Via Flaminia in the Marche region. This road was built in the second century BC and connected Rome with Ariminum on the Adriatic coast, today's Rimini.
Emperor Vespasian later had a tunnel built here to make it easier to pass through the narrowest part of the gorge. The name comes from the Latin "forulum", which means small hole.
