This painting is a replica of Magnasco's much larger (235 x 176 cm) “Landscape with Capucines" in the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan. The landscape as well as the figures show similarities, but also some differences - for instance in regard to the position of the snow-covered mountains and some of the figures. Noticeable in both paintings is the high ladder leaning against a tree. In general, our painting shows the vivid, nervous sketchy style typical for Magnasco's work.
