A stained ivory seal netsuke of karako and an elephant. Early 19th century

Five karako, one of them blowing a trumpet, another striking cymbals, and a caparisoned elephant carrying a coral bead on its back, all standing on top of a high Chinese table on curved legs; hair tufts and beads of horn, glass and metal. One seal character carved to the narrow base.
