Bronze sculpture. Height 10.5 cm. On rectangular, slightly irregular bronze plinth (approx. 1.5 x 6.4/7 x 5.5 cm). Monogrammed 'GK' [joined] back left of plinth. The exact number of casts is unknown, according to Berger, 2 bronze casts are documented for 1906/1907 and 1928. - Brown, yellowish light patina in places. - Very rare.

Depicted is Leonore, the daughter of the artist (born 19 Nov. 1902), whom he repeatedly portrayed. "In 1906/1907, a plaster model of "Playing child" was exhibited at Cassirer, 2 bronzes were sold at that time." (Ursel Berger, Georg Kolbe - Leben und Werk, mit dem Katalog der Kolbe-Plastiken im Georg-Kolbe-Museum, Berlin 1990, p. 211). Casts with the joined monogram, as described here, do not date before 1910, according to Berger (see ibid.).
