Bronze, height approx. 57.5 cm. Artist's signum on top of the plinth. Edition number "7/8" and foundry mark "GUSS BARTH, RINTELN" on reverse of plinth. - With fine matt gold-coloured patina.

Gerhard Marcks Werktagebuch Gips/Bronze (works diary plaster/bronze) 273c; Rudloff 730

The bronze was cast after a reworking of the plaster model of the "Schreitenden" (Striding Woman) from 1943 (cf. Rudloff 436). In 1959, Gerhard Marcks reworked this model, so that the formerly angled right arm is now in front of the chest.
