Probably Bavaria or Tyrol early 16th century

A probably Bavarian or Tyrolean figure of the Child blessing, early 16th century

Wood, carved in the round. The polychromy presumably 19th century. Although the sculpture is conceived for a frontal viewpoint, it is carved in the round and can be viewed from all sides. The nude Child stands in contrapposto, with his head lowered slightly to face the beholder, his right hand raised in blessing and his left holding a globe.
Some wear with losses to the polychromy. Mounted to a wooden socle. Height 40 cm (without base).
