Probably Italy 17th century

A probably Italian figure of John the Baptist (?), 17th century

Bronze, cast in the round, chased, with an older patina. A full-length depiction of a youthful, bearded man dressed solely in a cloth draped around his body and standing upon a three-sided plinth. The facial features and style of the hair could suggest a depiction of Saint John the Baptist.
Some fingers of the left hand lost, a drilled hole to the body beside the right hand. Partially rubbed. Mounted to a wooden socle. Height 26.5 cm (without socle).
