A probably Venetian figure of the god Mars, the mould attributed to Tiziano Aspetti, 17th century

Bronze, cast in the round, chased, with an older patina. A figure of Mars, the God of war, standing on a breastplate clothed solely in a helmet and a cloth draped around his shoulders. He is depicted leaning upon his shield and in the act of drawing his sword from its scabbard. The mould for this cast is attributed to Tiziano Aspetti (1565 Padua - 1607 Pisa).
A hole to the base, horizontal crack to the chest, some wear. Height 47 cm.
