Lower Rhine Region early 16th century

An early 16th century Lower Rhenish carved wooden figure of Saint Margaret.

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened. Minor remains of former polychromy.. A standing figure of the saint accompanied by her attribute, the dragon. She presumably originally held a palm frond in her right hand.
The attribute in the right hand lost. Mounted to a modern wooden plinth. Height 28.5 cm (without plinth).
