A South Tyrolean figure of Melchior, circa 1510.

Carved three-quarters in the round and partially freestanding, the reverse flattened and slightly hollowed out. With partially overpainted and supplemented polychromy.. This figure of Melchior stepping towards the right and proferring a golden jar of incense most likely originates from an altarpiece depicting the adoration of the Magi.
The right hand replaced. Former additions to the underside of the plinth were removed in 1974. With minimal wear. Height 60 cm.
