German 18th century
An 18th century German carved wooden personification of autumn.
Carved three quarters in the round, the reverse hollowed out. Large areas displaying what is presumably the original polychromy, overpainted to the feet and the left arm.. A figure of a young woman standing in contrapposto with her head tilted sideways; dressed in a long, girded gown and holding a bunch of grapes in her hands.
With a vertical crack to the chest. Mounted to an associated wooden plinth. Height 92 cm (without plinth).
