Gouache on ivory in a gold capsule frame with plaited hair reverse. Unsigned. Frame 8 x 6.5 cm.

Andrew Plimer, son of a clockmaker, first worked as a servant before becoming the pupil of the famous English miniaturist Richard Cosway. He exhibited his idealised portraits, which he left unsigned as of around 1790, at the Royal Academy from 1786 - 1819.
