A pair of French époque Louis XVI ormolu mounted white marble vases.

A pair of urn-form vases with opulent neoclassical fire-gilt bronze decor. With minor chips to the marble. H 43.5 cm.
Probably after 1790 and possibly after a design by Pierre-Philippe Thomire.

A porphyry vase with similar bronze appliques formerly owned by Madame du Barry is now kept in the Louvre. It has occasionally been attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire.
