A Meissen vermeil-mounted porcelain jug with "kauffahrtei" decor.

Finely painted throughout with heavily populated merhant navy scenes in gilt lace pattern quatrefoil cartouches. The rims of the jug and lid with silver gilt mountings joined via a hinged thumb rest. Blue crossed swords mark, gold 13. (to the base and lid), painted C. 35. A short crack to the inside of the lid, minor wear to the gilt. H 15 cm.
Decorated in the manner of Christian Friedrich Herold, before 1740, the mountings Elias Adam, Augsburg, before 1745.
