A Mongolian gilt bronze stupa. Zanabazar, 18th century

A Mongolian gilt bronze stupa, the indented square base incised in the four cardinal directions with an elephant, a horse, a peacock and a Garuda, each flanked by lions supporting a dome with a niche on one side with a relief of Buddha Shakyamuni above which rises the pennant-flanked spire. Base cast separately. Zanabazar, 18th century.
